As the first workshop devoted to this important topic, it aims to provide a comprehensive overview of current research, design and application work relating to ACP. The first day of the workshop examined the language ACRL, a formalism which extends ACP with algebraic data specification, and to the incorporation of real-time in ACP. The second day covered expressiveness issues and a number of relevant case studies. This volume also contains a reprint of a classic paper by J.A. Bergstra and J.W.
